We strive to process all medical records requests within five to seven business days, but according to the Health Information Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA), Regional West is allowed 30 days to complete a request. However, factors such as record availability, size of the record, and the volume of requests will affect response time. You may pick up your records between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding all federal holidays or by special appointment. Please bring photo identification with you. If someone will be picking up the records for you, he or she must have written permission from you identifying them to do so and they must provide photo identification.
There may be a charge for the cost of reproduction of medical records. To obtain your records, you need to complete a Medical Records Release of Health Information Authorization Form, which is also available at Medical Records. Regional West Medical Center is able to produce documentation electronically on a CD.
HIM/Medical Records also releases radiology images for the radiology department on CD. Please check 'Radiology Images' if you would like the CD.
